Latin American And Caribbean ISPs Switching To Next-Generation Protocol Future-proofing our Internet Latin American and Caribbean ISPs switching to next-generation protocol Forward-thinking network operators in Latin America and the Caribbean are using the Internet's next-generation protocol, called IPv6, to gain a business edge over their competitors. The upside for customers is better quality of service, and in the long term a more future-proof regional Internet. The Internet Protocol, or IP, is the method by which data is sent from one computer to another on the Internet. Each device on the Internet has at least one IP address that uniquely identifies it from all other computers on the Internet. Since World IPv6 Launch on June 6, 2012, several major websites such as Google, YouTube, Netflix, and Facebook have started rolling out IPv6. Today, the message to ISPs is clear: don't wait for other competitors to switchover to IPv6, and don't wait until your c...

Dutch Parliament, Plasterk Emphasise Need For Fair Curaçao Elections THE HAGUE – The Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament and Minister of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Ronald Plasterk, during a plenary debate on Thursday, reaffirmed the importance of having the elections proceed in Curaçao and that these elections take place in a free, fair manner without interference or pressure. “In no way can there be interference in the process of free election. Attempts to do so would be a violation of the rule of law,” Plasterk stated. He reiterated his earlier statement that the April 28 elections had been called in a lawful manner. Plasterk again expressed support for the decision of the Curaçao Governor to ratify the National Decree of the former Curaçao Government to dissolve the Parliament and to call new elections. “The National Decree was signed by the Governor which has effectuated the process of elections. There can be no misunderstanding about that.” Plasterk confi...

Coalition MP: “Let Them Send A Firing Squad!” WILLEMSTAD – Will the Netherlands take over in Curaçao or not? That was the question this morning as the Kingdom Council of Minister met in The Hague to discuss the free elections in Curaçao on April 28 this year. For days the interim government headed by Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas has been sabotaging the elections. The higher supervision by The Hague is unique in the relationship between the Netherlands and Curaçao. Never before has the Kingdom Council of Ministers intervened to ensure free elections in the Kingdom. As it happens, the Council will transfer all responsibilities for the election to Governor Lucille George-Wout. Pisas government will then be put aside. Yesterday the interim government did a final attempt to avoid the humiliation of a higher supervision. The coalition of former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte, who was convicted for corruption, bribery and forgery, adopted a motion with the message that they no lo...

Those companies incorporated under the regimen before January 2002 are exempt until the last day of the book year, beginning before 1 July 2019. Our local expert explains. The offshore tax regime in Curacao ended on 1 January 2002. As of this date no new companies can incorporate making use of the offshore, low tax, regime. Companies incorporated before 2002, still can make use of the favourable tax regime until the last day of the book year, beginning before 1 July 2019. Companies using the calendar year as their book year are exempt until 31 December 2019. After the exemption period, offshore companies will be subject to the onshore tax regime. In principle, the general profit tax rate (22% for the year 2017) on taxable income will apply. Yet, the current Curacao tax laws offer lower tax alternatives to this tax regime, depe...
