Comments on Chinese spy chips: One eye opening vid, I’m lucky enough to have visited the Beijing Sinnet facility mentioned, and all I can say is this article doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. I second some of the other comments though that the chip would be useless unless hackers had a way to penetrate from external through the firewalls to get to the onboard chip.

Saying that though if Apple or Amazon had a recycling deal with Supermicro then the servers would end back up at Supermicros doorstep for tear down, maybe that’s when any data gathered could be accessed. Who knows for sure.. we all defo need to be vigilant on what we share and how we share it nowadays.
