Rigid Censorship in China in efforts to control its people and the world

It is no longer a secret that China has the most rigid internet censorship programs in the world. The People’s Republic of China (PRC) government is the one to blame for implementing more than 60 internet regulations.

Just to name a few websites that PRC has blocked which are well known amongst us are Youtube, Twitter, and Foursquare. Provincial branches of state-owned ISPs, business companies, and organizations are the ones in charge of vigorously implementing censorship systems. According to Amnesty International, “ China has the largest recorded number of imprisoned journalists and cyber-dissidents in the world.” The offences of which they are accused include communicating with groups abroad, signing online petitions, calling for reform, and attempting to end corruption. It is estimated that there is about 50,000 Internet police monitoring everything Chinese citizens do on the internet.
